15 years of gaming gold
Last week Roll7 celebrated a phenomenal 15 years of making games with an anniversary party attended by staff past and present, old friends, industry peers, and even a few fans!
Like many of its Gen Z cohort, Roll7 has a TikTok, is big into video games, and is easier to reach online than in-person. Unlike the rest of Gen Z, Roll7 is also a video game studio and not a human being - however, we didn’t let that stop us from throwing a birthday bash.
It’s always a good time to find an excuse to eat lots of cake, especially when the cake is as beautiful and delicious as the one our wonderful HR team sourced for the event.
It was a chance to catch up with old friends and colleagues - and to celebrate the success not only of those currently at the studio, but of everyone who has been part of this incredible 15 year journey. Our wonderful directors - Tom, John, and Simon - all gave speeches, reflecting on the road that had led us all to the present moment, having drinks and nibbles in a beautiful bar.
From the earliest days of the company in 2008, through creating games made with a computer-brain interface to support kids with ADHD, going remote, banning crunch, growing the team, releasing two games within months of one another in 2022, and then winning our second BAFTA in 2023 - it’s a remarkable story of perseverance, talent, and most importantly of all the wonderful people who helped make our studio what it is today.
